Cristina Popovici’s creative spirit is not hindered by a particular medium or process, and she works easily in two dimensions or three. Her vivacious palette is as boundless as light itself. Popovici’s expressive abstract compositions are centered around powerful movements.
Massive brushstrokes and their corresponding drips and drizzles create the backbone of each work. She employs mixed media, acrylic or oil on canvas, plastic, and silver leaf. There is a palpable sense of spontaneity and wonder at both the process and the finality of creation. As we can easily perceive, for Popovici each painting is a process of discovery and a physical articulation of inner emotions. “”I believe in uniqueness and originality,” she explains. “The starting point of my work is my personal response to the world. My art is healing me and I hope it heals others too; sharing the energy and excitement of living.”
Cristina Popovici has exhibited her work around the globe for over twenty years and she has numerous avid collectors in both the public and private spheres. She lives in Melbourne, Australia.
