ANDREW DRURY is a drummer/composer who embraces the continuum from tradition to exploration and who has been called “one of the most innovative and bold drummers on the modern music scene” (Hrayr Attarian, All About Jazz).

A long time student of the legendary drummer Ed Blackwell, Drury is known for propulsive drumming, a distinctive compositional voice, and a live performance energy that is simultaneously primal, refined, and visually captivating. As heard in solo performances and on his solo cd, The Drum, his use of extreme wind and friction techniques recasts the notion of percussion by transforming a drum into a pitch instrument capable of producing a stunning range of microtonal and multiphonic frequencies.

440 Gallery is located at 440 Sixth Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn, between 9th and 10th Streets, and is convenient to the F, G, and R subways. The gallery is open on Thursday and Friday, 4-7pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 11am – 7pm, or by appointment.
