Arizona artist Natalia Hughson in Portals of Perception

The paintings of Natalia Hughson are as diverse as they are luminous. Experimenting with a wide range of styles and media to create a unique artistic approach that she has named “Dynamic Creativity,” Hughson creates colorful dynamic images filled with movement and characterized by fluid brushstrokes and lines. In each piece, bright hues saturate the canvas, with compositions made all the more complex by a strong emphasis on shadow and light. As Hughson explains, “I am interested in the process of creation, which is something that I have studied my entire life.” The artist’s inspiration comes in part from music, and when she plays the piano she sees images in the mind’s eye that later appear in her art. Similarly, she is also influenced by the work of other artists, as they help her to discover new approaches and new modes of expression.

In addition to her paintings, Natalia Hughson has published numerous texts on innovation, originality, and the link between mental health and creativity, including the textbook ‘Psychology of Creativity.’
