Lisa Jonasson’s figures have been blown up and in January they will decorate the glass walls of the Spetsen Gallery. A room within the room holds her richly detailed and colorful collages.

Lisa Jonasson is next in line for the Bonniers Konsthall exhibition series In The Spetsen Gallery, in which artists are invited to make new work for the tip of the exhibition hall. The tip (spetsen) with its glass walls and a curved form presents enormous possibilities, but also challenges for the artists who take it on. Previous artists in this series include Astrid Svangren, Ulla von Brandenbur, and Malin Pettersson Öberg.

Lisa Jonasson was born in 1978 in Stockholm and educated at the Royal Institute of Art. Her work has been shown at Kulturhuset, Gävle konstcentrum, at Kunsterlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, and elsewhere. Lisa Jonasson also has her own biennial: ”The Lisa Jonasson Biennial”. It came about in partnership with a group of curators and as a critique of the biennial system and the lack of possibilities artists have to make long-term work. Therefore the biennial project is a lifetime contract. This is the second time Lisa Jonasson’s art will be shown at Bonniers Konsthall. In 2007 she was part of the group show 20 år! Stipendiater Maria Bonnier Dahlins stiftelse 1985 – 2005.

Bonniers Konsthall opened in the autumn of 2006 and is a venue for Swedish and international contemporary art. With a public programme of exhibitions, seminars, publications and much more, Bonniers Konsthall aims to support the emergence of and to promote encounters with new art. Bonniers Konsthall wants to be an open and inviting place for the local Stockholm public as well as playing an active role on both the national and international art scene. – www.bonnierskonsthall.se
