Lora Schlesinger Gallery presents New Paintings by Sue Dirksen, on view August 6th – September 3rd. Opening: August 6th 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM. The show is the artist’s first solo exhibition with the gallery.
Sue Dirksen’s style of painting is intuitive, contemplative and gestural. The elegant visceral qualities of the surfaces are gradually built with hundreds of thin layers of acrylic paint. Through repetitive motion, Sue focuses on perfecting the brush stroke, allowing the brush to become an extension of her arm. The meditative style of painting is an exploration of an intuitive and contemplative place working to capture the vibrating energy of the universe. Each painting reflects an interpretation of the world’s energy through her use of resplendent color creating a seemingly limitless and subliminal space. The paintings embody characteristics of light and gravity, that change when experienced from different points of view.
