On October 21, 2009, Silver Starr Art Studios LLC (SSAS) will host its Annual Fall Exhibition in Georgetown at the renowned French art gallery, L’Eclat de Verre. This exceptional event will feature the latest creations of visual fine artists Desiree Sterbini and Tiya D.K., as well as musical performances by Canadian soul singer and saxophonist, Jeff Hendrick.
Desiree Sterbini, whose paintings have won numerous accolades and juried competitions, uses oil pastels and colored pencils to create works reminiscent of impressionist masters like Cassatt and Renoir. Depicting “everyday” scenes of childhood innocence, family, and matriarchy, Desiree’s works resonate with viewers and reinforce the image of women as pillars of society.
Tiya DK’s use of bold and vibrant colors, fluid shapes, and abstract forms have garnered acclaim throughout the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Her works, which can be found in the homes of well-known politicians, actors, and musicians, explore themes relating to identity, love, and womanhood. A native of the Caribbean, Tiya works with acrylics and various mediums to provide depth and texture to her paintings, giving them a three-dimensional effect.
Recognized for the passion and sincerity of his performances, Jeff Hendrick’s dynamic mid-to-low midtempo sound continuously receives international rave reviews and soul chart success. Hendrick will soothe guests’ audio senses with selections from his highly anticipated junior debut CD, Color Blind.
“We are delighted to present two celebrated female artists like Desiree and Tiya in conjunction with an acclaimed musician like Jeff,” shares Desiree Burnley, SSAS’s Vice President of Corporate Relations.
Tickets to the event are $5, and a portion of the event’s proceeds will benefit My Daughter’s Keeper, Inc.
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres, including refreshments, will be available. For tickets, or to R.S.V.P., please e-mail [email protected] or visit www.ssasarts.com by October 17, 2009.
