On February 7, 2009, SSAS will present a live musical performance from the sensational septet Mambo Sauce, whose electrifying sound is marked by its perfect blend of Latin, Neosoul, Hip Hop, Rap, Rock, Jazz and Go-Go. As acclaimed in the Richmond Times Dispatch by Melissa Riggueri, “[Mambo Sauce’s] music forces you to move. Not just nod your head or tap your feet, it takes over your body.” While remaining committed to numerous community causes, Mambo Sauce has received numerous accolades, awards, and radio airplay across the world for their songs. Their hit video “Welcome to DC” is also in rotation on MTV, BET and VH1 Soul and their “Welcome to DC” Presidential Tribute Remix may be heard across the airwaves and viewed at YouTube. The show begins at 10 p.m.
On February 15, 2009, SSAS will present Mycah Chevalier and The Roux Project performing songs live from Mycah’s captivating debut CD, Roux Fantasy, including radio favorites “Anticipation” with Sol Edler and “Shadow of Your Smile.” As Kim Hinds of Soul Bounce declared, “This is an album that you’ll find yourself playing from beginning to end, then gladly pressing repeat.” Mycah, whose CD also recently captured U.S. and U.K. audience’s hearts, will grace the stage with her sultry jazz, neo-soul, and blues melodious vocals at 12 p.m.
