Alejandra Larrea Koch Creates Eternal Perfection In Form

Richly wrought in vivid tones, Chilean artist Alejandra Larrea Koch’s luscious geometric abstractions explore the sphere as a symbol of organically feminine perfection, dynamically balanced between timelessness and creation.

The roundness of the shapes becomes filled with a textural movement and surface tension as it recalls bubbles and cells. Drawing viewers inward to contemplate the volumetric depths of her forms, this art is infused with a sense of the artist’s personal experience of painting, as she immerses herself in the sensual physicality of her medium with each considered brushstroke. She builds her works in oil paints on canvas on a bold, large scale, sometimes presenting her paintings as a diptych. A versatile artist proficient in many styles, she also creates floral studies and surrealistic works including occasional glimpses of realism and text.

Born in Vina del Mar, Chile, Alejandra Larrea Koch graduated from the Universidad Catolica de Valparaíso with a degree in Agronomy and currently lives in the foothills of the Andes mountains, where she discovered her artistic passion and where she is now showing professionally in numerous exhibitions.

About the Exhibition

The variety that exists in the exhibition, Reconstructing Reality, creates a sense of exploration that cannot be denied. The viewer is able to go from the ephemeral to the figurative in just a few moments, only to be snapped back to an equally jarring duality between works of traditional embroidery and surreal landscapes. The contrast, though strong, is far from harsh, with each piece made entirely accessible by the expertise each artist puts into their own styles and works, allowing for the viewer to fully enjoy the full range of art on display.
