International Fine Print Dealers Association Twenty-First Annual Print Fair

The International Fine Print Dealers Association presents its twenty-first annual Print Fair from November 3rd to November 6th 2011 at the Park Avenue Armory.

A private preview party benefiting the IFPDA Foundation, its nonprofit arm, will be held on November 2nd 2011 from 6:30-9pm. The IFPDA Print Fair is unique for its focus on one artistic medium and the unrivaled quality of works on view. The fair, sponsored this year by The Wall Street Journal and City National Bank, will feature prints by over 90 prestigious international art dealers from Europe and North America, all members of the International Fine Print Dealers Association. Notable dealers participating this year include Pace Prints, Marlborough Graphics, Two Palms, David Tunick, Inc., The Paragon Press, Hill-Stone, Inc., R.E. Lewis & Daughter, Gemini G.E.L. and Barbara Krakow Gallery.

The annual IFPDA Print Fair is the largest international art fair dedicated to exhibiting fine prints from all periods. The IFPDA Print Fair attracts over 6,000 new and seasoned collectors every year. Recent notable attendees include high profile collectors, museum directors, celebrities and noted philanthropists. Seminal works are on offer from a wide range of time periods including masterpieces by Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt van Rijn, Francisco de Goya, Joan Miro, Pablo Picasso, Jasper Johns and Richard Prince, to name a few. Past sales have reflected a broad range of prices from a few hundred dollars to a few million dollars.

It is the extensive historical scope and availability of work at all different price ranges that draws an eclectic mix of collectors to the fair annually. “It is through the vetted expertise of our dealers that the fair is able to offer works of the highest quality from the affordable to the extremely rare,” said IFPDA President Tara K. Reddi. –“Visitors may come to the fair seeking out rare 16th century old master etchings but will also come across a wonderful selection of Japanese prints, European modernists, American prints, early 20th century and postwar masters.” The fair is also notable as a platform for the launch of new editions and visitors can view and acquire the latest projects by leading contemporary artists, many of which are on view to the public for the first time.

The VIP Preview Party on November 2nd will be the first preview of the fair, drawing over 1500 collectors. For the first time this year some of New York’s top restaurants and chefs will be providing tasting stations including Fishtail by David Burke, Sam Talbot’s Imperial No. Nine, Basque inspired Txikito, Sushi hotspot Niko and the highly anticipated Spanish restaurant Barraca. In addition, the IFPDA is thrilled to announce Tracy Stern SALONTEA™ will provide a range of refreshments from a centrally located tea bar dubbed “the Teaosk” throughout the duration of the fair. Celebrated textile designer Madeline Weinrib will also unveil a limited-edition blue & white wallpaper, inspired by the ancient tradition of printmaking, that will adorn the walls of the fair’s public spaces. The children’s activity “Eye Spy” will be on sale at the fair, and all proceeds will benefit the Sylvia Center, a garden-to-table program that inspires young people to discover good nutrition on the farm and in the kitchen.
