Andreas Gefeller lives and works in Düsseldorf, Germany. He studied photography at the University of Essen and completed his degree with honors in 2000. He was appointed to the German Academy of Photography in 2001.
Gefeller’s best known body of work, Supervisions, consists of spectacularly detailed birds-eye views of large spaces: airport runways, parking lots, meadows and beaches, created by montaging thousands of individual detail photos taken from near ground level. Gefeller’s newest body of work, The Japan Series, is an artistic exploration of the Tottori Prefecture in Japan, portraying abstractions of power lines and it will be exhibited at Hasted Kraeutler in the spring of 2011.
Andreas Gefeller is represented in the United States exclusively by Hasted Kraeutler.
