This will be an opportunity to view and purchase museum calibre works from paintings to sculpture and glassware. Bonhams strategy in offering Orientalist works of art in a variety of media is testament to their rounded understanding of collecting. Highlights from the sale will be available for preview in London, Abu Dhabi and Dubai prior to the sale.

Giles Peppiatt, Director of Orientalist Art at Bonhams says: ” The quality and power of these works cannot be overestimated. This collection is the finest collection of Orientalist pictures to come to the market in my 25 year long career.”

Bonhams Senior Specialist, TalineAynilian, remarks “It is a true pleasure to bring the works of art back to the region from which they came and from where the artists’ works were inspired. To have them hanging in a room amidst the land and culture that embodies the Middle East aids our understanding of the genre and places Orientalism into context.”

Although the artists who created these pieces were of Western descent, the content directly reflects the history of the Middle East and is symbolic of the interchange of cultural ideas throughout history, which via Bonhams’ many auctions around the world, continues today between enthusiastic collectors around the globe.
