German Filmmaker and L.A. Documentarian Eckhart Schmidt Announces His First Major Photography Exhibit and Book – Window Girls

Window Girls – represents a world slated for demolition. The Hollywood Boulevard of old is in the process of being remodelled as a modern tourist attraction and shopping mall. Old and unique stores are disappearing. Eckhart Schmidt’s project chronicles the last moments of the bizarre world of Hollywood Boulevard mannequins.

Eckhart Schmidt on his photographic work: “I spent three years on Window Girls. It was a long and exciting process to capture the mannequins and the world surrounding them in the reflection. It seems improbable to many observers but fact is that none of the images were manipulated . . . everything here is authentic.”

The exhibit will run at the world-famous Equator Books in Venice, CA from July 25 – September 12, 2009.

An Opening Reception with the artist will be held July 25, 2009 from 7 – 11 pm. A limited edition catalogue (retail $75) of the exhibit will be available throughout the show.

Documentary filmmaker Eckhart Schmidt came to be known for critically acclaimed films such as “Hollywood Legends, “Glamour vs. Paparazzi”, “The Myth Of Hollywood” and “Lost Angeles”.

“Window Girls” marks Eckhart Schmidt’s first U.S. photographic exhibition.
