BERWYN, Ill., – Through support by the Berwyn Development Corporation (BDC), Berwyn’s City Council Alderman Michele Skryd announced an Artspace pre-feasibility workshop, scheduled to take place on Monday, August 4th at the Berwyn Police Station Community Room (6401 31st Street, Berwyn IL 60402).
The workshop will address a wide variety of planning items and key-components surrounding the Artspace program, including an in-depth presentation and explanation of projects that will help further develop this significant community venture. The presentation will also address the role of non-profit art programs and their economic impact, as well as answer questions and concerns, and generate community input pertaining to needs and interest in the project.
“We’re very excited about bringing and adding such a great program to our strong arts community. Since its creation, the Berwyn Arts Council has proven that the art scene in Berwyn is very much alive and thriving and we, as a diversity-based community, want to continue expanding this positive growth. It is important for us to explore additional programs, such as Artspace, that can continue promoting our proud and strong art scene in Berwyn,” said Michele Skryd, City Alderman working on the Artspace program.
Artspace is a national, nonprofit organization dedicated to creating space for the arts. The purpose of the visit and workshop is to determine the potential for Berwyn to create a successful, self-sustaining artist live/work project. Artspace consultants will be conducting a variety of site visits and stakeholder meetings in order to gather as much information as possible.
