The Grove Center for the Arts & Media presents Bam! Art Hits the Runway

The Grove Center for the Arts & Media proudly presents “Bam! Art Hits the Runway” on February 15, 2008, 7:30 pm at Coast Hills Community Church, located at 5 Pursuit in Aliso Viejo, CA. This original production is designed to celebrate music, dance, art and theater and will feature a unique multi-media, living-art fashion show inspired by master painters. A reception with live music, delicious desserts, fine art and an auction will follow the event.

The idea for “Bam! Art Hits the Runway” came from art teacher and designer Gigi Mauter. In the fall of 2006, Saddleback Christian Academy high school students enrolled in her newly developed “Advanced Applied Design” class, where they researched the lives and works of famous artists. Their work was then evaluated and critiqued by a clothing designer, a fashion illustrator, and a costume designer, among others. For “Bam! Art Hits the Runway,” each designer was matched with a model and a seamstress to bring their creations to the stage. Over 95 people have volunteered to orchestrate this event, including additional designers who were added to the event after the success of the class. Filmmaker Charlie Matz is also creating a documentary based on “Bam! Art Hits the Runway.”

Today, there is great interest in fashion and the design process (“Project RunWay,” “The Devil Wears Prada”). Unfortunately, much of the fashion and art world epitomizes carnality and sensuality. As we present “Bam! Art Hits the Runway,” we desire to offer a creative, entertaining and memorable evening that will bring honor to God, inspiration and delight to our gurests and participants, and provide an opportunity for creative networking among artists of various disciplines.

Seating at Coast Hills Community Church is limited. $25.00 is the suggested ticket donation for adults, $5.00 for children and students (“Bam!” is recommended for children 10 and older). Tickets will be $30.00 at the door. Tickets may be ordered online at www.thegrovecenter.org, or by mail at The Grove Center for the Arts & Media, 1201 Puerta Del Sol #228, San Clemente, CA 92673,
