The colorful ceramic work of Tom Hubert and the eclectic collection of art by the Warren Art League will delight you. Beginning on December 6th at the Crary Art Gallery, located at 511 Market Street in Warren, PA you can be intrigued by these unique styles and whimsical expressions of shape and color as these works tickle your imagination and whisk you away to lands unknown.
Tom Hubert earned his MFA in Ceramics and Ceramic Sculpture with a Minor in Photography from the School for American Crafts at Rochester Institute of Technology. He taught at Mercyhurst University for 40 years and was the Director of the Art Department from 1992 to 2001 and Chair of the Art Department from 2003 to 2008, 2013-14 and 2018-19. Tom’s distinguished career includes over 20 awards in national and regional exhibitions, juried and invitational exhibitions and 12 one-person shows in the last 14 years.
Tom uses complex pottery forms using wheel thrown and slab-built construction to shape his ornate whiteware vessels. Layer upon layer of underglaze is fired multiple times to create an endless possibility of designs using a white ceramic base.
The Warren Art League has been bringing together and supporting local artists for over 70 years. Exhibits have been held at the Warren Mall, Warren Public Library, Crary Art Gallery, the Riverfront, Warren Downtown Sidewalk Days, and along the Warren County Courthouse fence. Join artist members Peter Gram, Tina Faulkner, Jacque Caringola, Karen Hetzel, Wilma Fleming, Marian Aranyos, and Diane Delarme as they share their work with the community.
Come see this vivid display of art at the opening reception of this amazing exhibit at the Crary Art Gallery on December 6th from 5p.m. to 7p.m. Artist talks will begin at 6p.m. Throughout the exhibition, the Crary Art Gallery is open to visitors on Fridays and Saturdays from Noon to 6p.m. and Sundays from Noon to 4p.m. The show continues through Sunday, January 4th. The Crary Art Gallery is a non-profit private art museum located at the corner of Market Street and 6th Avenue in historic downtown Warren, PA. Its mission is to educate, entertain and extend the importance of visual arts. In addition to displaying its permanent collection, temporary exhibitions are held every other month throughout the year, beginning in February. Hours of operation are Fridays and Saturdays from 12 to 6 and Sundays from 12 to 4. Admission is always free.
