Frederick Arts Council Opens New Art Center

The Frederick Arts Council will be officially opening its new center to the community on Saturday, September 5th at noon to 8 pm. The center is a renovated historic church building located at 5 E 2nd Street in downtown Frederick.

The opening will feature the premiere of FAC’s first public art exhibition in the space, “A Community Story.” The exhibition is interactive and developing, and community members are asked to bring in photos and objects that represent their personal or family culture. These images and objects will be displayed alongside larger photos from the Golden Mile in Focus accompanying exhibition by award-winning photographer Wing Young Huie.

Masks will be required while in the art center and capacity will be monitored for social distancing. Refreshments will be served outside.

The Arts Council’s vision is a Frederick where public art connects residents and visitors, expresses an authentic and unique sense of place, drives economic prosperity through creativity, and advances a culturally inclusive and empowered future.
