A conversation centered on Abstraction and Realism
Of the four artists currently on view at 440 Gallery, two work abstractly, two work realistically.
What motivates an artist to work in a particular style? What does the artist see and how does that get translated into a work of art? Join us for this lively discourse about thinking, process and technique. Abstract artist Jo-Ann Acey will discuss her new pastel-drawing series La Luna; painter Ellen Chuse will delve into her on-going fascination with organic forms; watercolorist Joy Makon will talk about what motivates her to select a subject, and photographer David Stock will share his thoughts on the hard-working storefronts of NYC.
440 Gallery is located at 440 Sixth Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn, between 9th and 10th Streets, and is convenient to the F, G, and R subways. The gallery is open on Thursday and Friday, 4pm – 7pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 11am – 7pm, or by appointment.
