Photographer and painter Maria Jose Vicuña’s recent series in acrylic maps the kaleidoscopic realm of color, concept and abstraction with lyrical expertise.
Interested in facilitating an active reciprocity between art and viewer, her works leave space for a multitude of readings and meanings. Highly saturated and bold, these works are set apart by their oval departure from traditional rectangular composition. As voluptuous as they are pleasing to the eye, the paintings are teaming with rhythm, delicacy and metaphysical depth.
Chilean artist Maria Jose Vicuña currently lives and works in Santiago, Chile.

About the Exhibition
The artists who were selected by the 2014 Chelsea International Fine Art Competition’s independent juror, New York’s culture critic and curator, Mr. Carlo McCormick, are now able to demonstrate just why their artwork was chosen in the CIFAC Exhibition. Representing a variety of media and styles, the artworks on display cover a broad range of subjects and techniques. However, the passion and drive of these talented artists is visible throughout, making the viewing experience invigorating and expansive.
