Laguna Beach Art Walk

Laguna Beach celebrates its cultural art scene through the award-winning First Thursdays Art Walk. The event is free to the public and in the last twelve years has become a much anticipated event by visitors and OC residents alike.

On May 6th, stroll and trolley around this picturesque town on a self-guided tour enjoying gallery openings, artist demonstrations and receptions, live music and other entertainment and refreshments. “I encourage everyone to come experience the Art Walk in May. It’s a chance to see why Laguna is an infamous arts destination, not just during the summer, but year-round as well,” said First Thursdays Art Walk president Rebecca Barber.

It’s a great time to come and see what all of the buzz is about. Throughout the evening see artists in action and watch their creative process when visiting them at many galleries demonstrating their techniques and sharing their insights. The following are a few participating: Maggie Jamison at Laguna North Gallery; John Eagle and other resident artists at Studio 7; and Bradford Salamon at JoAnne Artman Gallery. Each of their styles and characters are uniquely Laguna. More information can be found at

This jam-packed evening includes a multitude of galleries to see from Downtown to Gallery Row to Bluebird, enhanced by performances by local musicians and gallery hospitality. It’s easy to get to all destinations, simply hop the FREE trolley, another distinctively Laguna experience. Be sure to ask the trolley docents for their recommendations as to where the next stop should be. At any gallery also pick up an Art Walk brochure that includes a map and featuring all the evening’s special events. Other highlights include, the latest exhibition at Laguna Art Museum, “OsCene – 2010,” celebrating some of the most provocative art, music and film Orange County has to offer and also the Laguna College of Art & Design graduating seniors exhibit.
