Matisse and Picasso Added to Modern Art Collection of J D Smith Fine Art

PORTLAND, OREGON – Works by modern art masters Henri Matisse and Pablo Picasso have recently been added to the collection of J D Smith Fine Art. These amazing works are now on view.

Henri Matisse was a monumental figure in 20th century art. His use of color and fluid line defines his unique style and justifies his place as the greatest French artist of the 20th century. Two original lithographs by Matisse have been added to the J D Smith Fine Art collection. The first is from a portfolio of love poems by Pierre Ronsard published in 1948. The second is a portrait of a woman from Poesies Antillaises, created in 1946 and finally published in 1972.

The name Pablo Picasso is virtually synonymous with the term modern art. His long, prolific career influenced 20th century more than any other single artist. Two original works by Picasso have been added to the gallery’s collection. These include an original lithograph from 1961 that depicts a bullfight, a theme that occupied Picasso’s interest over the years and an original collotype published in 1925 that shows a portrait of Raymond Radiguet, an author and friend of Picasso who died early in life.

“We are always proud to add works by artists of the stature of Picasso and Matisse to our growing collection of modern art. Works by these artists will always generate interest from those that appreciate and collect fine art.”
