Expressive Color by Anton Antonov

The Agora Gallery (530 West 25th Street, Chelsea, New York, NY, 10001) is proud to present Anton Antonov in Interpretative Realms. Scheduled to run from January 30th through February 19th, the collection will feature a captivating selection of Anton Antonov’s graceful, swirling figures.

About Anton Antonov:

Anton Antonov’s depiction of people and nature calls to mind works by Picasso and Chagall: graceful, swirling figures seemingly detached from the physical world, while remaining full of real-world emotional resonance. Antonov’s compositional technique sets him apart; often his application of paint to surface seems thicker and more ornate than anything done by those two great masters and his colorings are completely his own. “The major means of expression for me is the color,” he says. Soft-glowing blue against the palest beige, accents of purple and green intermingling with the deepest russet . . . Truly, the complex spectrum of hues found on every Antonov canvas brings something intangible to each viewing experience.

Antonov’s work has been featured in shows ranging from Germany and Austria to Poland, Italy, and the U.S. During a 1994 exhibition in Lisbon, pro soccer star and fellow Bulgarian Krasimir Balukov bought 40 of Antonov’s paintings.

About Interpretative Realms- Alternate realities and pseudo-universes are in store for the visitors of Interpretive Realms. Wild and energetic, this is an impressive grouping, where one may discover traces of the Fauves, Surrealists, and other purveyors of the avant-garde. These creative minds convey the excitement and ingenuity of early modern art in our contemporary age. They have each developed highly personal and inventive artistic language that will enrich the imagination of audiences.
