On Saturday November 22, 20:08, Lullalee, a 501 (c)(3) promoting literacy for children, will host its 1st Annual Art for Literacy Benefit Concert and Silent Art Auction at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, California. “Art for Literacy” is a fundraising reception in the Grand Ballroom showcasing 15 Bay area artists presenting over 50 original works for auction in a beautiful exhibit including painting, sculpture, and photography. Meet the artists who include among others Terry Flynn, Flicka McGurrin, Barbara Phelps, Meg Dakin, Mimi Momcier, Christo Braun, and Veerakeat Tongpaiboon.
Representing the musical arts will be the iconic stage show of Louis Prima, Jr, as well as a classical string quartet accompanying the auction segment. Guests will be guided through the evening of art, music, champagne and hors d’ oeuvres by, comedic magician and Master of Ceremonies Robert Strong, and Mistress of ceremonies Reena Evers-Everette, daughter of slain civil rights activist Medgar Evers and longtime champion for underprivileged children.
Lullalee provides inspirational reading projects including the Skyline College Early Reading Program and ‘Car-Ni-Fair’ Book Festivals at Shriners Hospital for Children. These programs provide free books and edu-tain-ment designed to instill a love for learning while helping children find their special gift thru music, art and literature. Lullalee also provides Book Grants to organizations serving needy children living in a variety of challenging economic and health situations locally, nationally and worldwide.
Lullalee was founded by bay area resident Lee Ann Butler-Owens, an airline employee flying on 9/11, who has since devoted her spare time and money to the design and delivery of reading and literacy programs for children with special needs.
