Leticia Herrera’s Visual Poetry at Agora Gallery

Leticia Herrera builds her pigment-rich abstractions with the sensibilities of a poet, infusing sensitivity and vulnerability into her bold fields of color and texture.

The fluid and passionately energetic brushstrokes give a structural backbone to the strong horizontal motion of these compositions. Occasionally referencing figurative or landscape-like forms in her works, Herrera’s art defies simplistic labels and categorization, instead creating a personal style and visual dialog through the combination of mixed media, oils, and acrylic paints on linen and canvas. Herrera immersed herself in her painting following the death of her closest friend, finding a renewed sense of joy and inspiration for her life in the expression of her inner creativity.

Born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico, Leticia Herrera now lives and works in Mckinney, TX. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Louisiana State University and worked for several years as a Creative Director with Avon Mexico before diving full-time into her career as a professional artist.

The Essence of Abstraction provides a feast for the eyes, presenting the work of artists who allow their glowing inner conviction and inspiring sense of reality and its fully dynamic nature to spill out into their works, animating and enlivening each piece. The result is art that stirs the imagination and touches the heart.
