Serenely poetic, the paintings of Canadian artist Eric Oberhauser harmoniously blend the aesthetics of art with colorful portrayals of life and existence.
Imbued with creativity and tender tranquility, Oberhauser’s brushwork infuses vivaciousness into the prosaic, softly creating scenes with an electrifying vividness. Portraits, genre scenes, and landscapes alike are rendered with a gentle yet disquieting beauty. Such poignant depictions illuminate the profound interconnectedness and mysteries in our lives, art, and spirituality, concepts which form a nexus in Oberhauser’s art and painterly philosophy. Operating within a modern milieu, his artwork creates allusions to da Vinci, Dürer, Rubens, and van Gogh, among others, while adopting a contemporary zeal. “I am in continual pursuit of new and original possibilities and modes of visual art expression,” explains the artist. “I seek new visual ideas as a means of transcending the ‘mundane’ and revealing the exceptional aspects of our collective experiences.”
Born and raised in Canada, Eric Oberhauser has competed in juried art exhibitions throughout the world, and has shown his artwork in international open studios. He is a certified art instructor.
