Generic Art Solutions presents “Anarcadia” at Jonathan Ferrara Gallery for White Linen Night 2011. Known for their performative explorations of religious, heroic, and epic themes, G.A.S’s latest show explores a conceptual and philosophical landscape that resides between the “old regime” and new horizons.
Not unlike the eye of a hurricane, this state is one created through the energy of opposing forces- a place where there is unlimited potential in all directions. G.A.S explains: “if Anarchy is a calculated and visceral upheaval designed to instigate social change, and Arcadia serves as an idyllic pastoral lifestyle devoid of societal ills, “Anarcadia” is a timeless proposition where the spirit of change is at once perpetual and harmonious”.
Utilizing photography, video, performance, and “silkscreen painting”, G.A.S builds an environment within an exhibition that examines the elements required for conquering internal and external resistance to complacency.
G.A.S continues: “it has been said that the only constant is change, and it is change that either excites us or creates fear. That which we cannot control ruthlessly illustrates our position of involvement in this perpetual revolution weather we like it or not. This show is a call to action. It represents our belief that faintheartedness is to be despised.
