Sixth annual artLA Art Fair Returns to Inspire Global Collectors in New Downtown Location

The sixth annual artLA, the original Los Angeles International Contemporary Art Fair, will be staged at a breathtaking new location at the J.W.Marriott Ritz Carlton in Downtown Los Angeles. artLA, the original Los Angeles International Contemporary Art Fair, showcases innovative work from Los Angeles-based and international galleries alongside dealers and galleries from across the US, representing a compelling balance of well-established and emerging artists. artLA 2011 is the 49th art fair artLA Director, Stephen Cohen, has produced and the 26th art fair in Los Angeles since 1992. For 2011, artLA presents a contemporary art fair inclusive of photography, video, and new media alongside the most contemporary of traditional mediums. Additionally, exhibitors will present modernist and contemporary furniture and design. Curated installations of early local video, experimental film, works on paper, architectural innovations and couture which were part of progressive post-war art movements Southern California that continue today. The fair also will feature related lectures, screenings, seminars, and panel discussions with artists, collectors, and curators that will take place in adjoining break out rooms. artLA joins with the international art community as it gathers this fall in Los Angeles for the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time, a collaboration of more than sixty cultural institutions across Southern California coming together to tell the story of the birth of the Los Angeles art scene and how it became a major new force in the art world.

artLA 2011 takes place in an exciting new location, the luxurious J.W. Marriott Ritz Carlton, which features a climate controlled 25,000 square foot column-free exhibit hall entered through a three-story atrium, creating a sophisticated setting befitting L.A.’s premier contemporary art fair.
