The City of Lake Worth is hosting SCULP LAKE WORTH one of the largest International Sculpture Fairs. Organizers are actively working in cooperation with all the Local and County officials. The Mayor A. Varela and City Manager Susan Stanton, staff Rachel Smithson are coordinating with the directors in a unified effort to maximize Sculp Lake Worth’s success. The Downtown Cultural Alliance, The Lake Worth Chamber of Commerce, Lake Worth Community Redevelopment Agency Director all will add there expertise to the project. Additionally The Public Arts Administrators throughout Florida have been helpful.
The Palm Beach Cultural Council’s new home is located in the Montgomery Building in Downtown Lake Worth. The staff has expressed there enthusiasm for the Fair. We look forward to working with the Cultural Council in promoting this important event. As planned the fair will run year round, renewing each year with new events and featuring new artworks by master sculptors and new emerging artist.
A month long Sculptural celebration is being organized an targeted for Jan 2011. The scope of the event will span classical to contemporary, both
indoor an monumental outdoor sculptures will be exhibited. Sizes will range from a few feet to fifty feet, in all shapes and materials. A major important interior exhibition space and location will be announced shortly. This location will host the opening Sculptural Fair. The venue will include lecture series, seminars, by key note speakers including artist an experts and critics. Exciting programs are now being planned to combine music and art performances, interactive installations and multimedia performances, for young and old. This is to be across cultural generational educational event.
The placement of the Sculptures will be one block west of City Hall, running East across Dixie and down Lake Ave. all the way to the Inter coastal Park, and west up Lucerne. Sculp Lake Worth will also focus on the parks and the main streets, with special themes. Being one of the largest sculpture event in the US, the direct economic effect to the local retail businesses will be substantial. The indirect effect will be phenomenal for all of Palm Beach County and The City of Lake Worth.
We want to put Lake Worth on the map as a major visiting location in Florida also noticed as a viable arts and cultural center.The fair will publish a fully illustrated catalog and website.
