Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Swiss artist, Alexandre Plattet, in Altered States of Reality: an Exhibition of Analog and Digital Photography. The exhibition is scheduled to run from April 16, 2010 through May 07, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, April 22, 2010).
Alexandre Plattet, Meeting II (Rencontre II), Photographic Print in Acrylic Sandwich
Alexandre Plattet’s iridescent photographs present a visionary display of our world in all its lush variation. By focusing on the dynamic shapes of the world, Alex delves deeply into the abstract possibilities embedded in nature, an experience he reaches by relying upon his intuition in the creative moment. Alex often uses water as a vehicle for the creation of his images, and finds that water offers endless ways of creating a composition that is surprisingly different from what one usually sees in reality. He has said that his most meaningful experiences in the work process often take place at the moments when he least expects it, and that he regards each shot he takes as a moment of magic, when humanity perceives itself in the universe.
These works are all the more stunning when one realizes they have not been produced by a digital camera; thus does Alexandre Plattet’s photography reveal his commitment to the traditional craft of photography as well as his transcendent aesthetic vision.

Consumed with exploring our world as they uniquely see it, the artists in Agora Gallery’s “Altered States of Reality: an Exhibition of Analog and Digital Photography” use a myriad of visual vocabularies and technologies. Differing in method, these artists share in the passionate quest to articulate the moments often ignored in everyday life. Influenced by Surrealism and Abstractionism alike, these artists boldly investigate their psyches and natural surroundings. The results, at once harmonious, perplexing and alluring, take us on an inspirational visual journey.
