In October and November 2009, Artifact Design Group will present The 10th Wave III: In Person an exhibition of contemporary international art textiles and fiber sculpture, curated by browngrotta arts. The 10th Wave III: In Person will feature the work of more than 70 artists, working in a wide range of textile techniques and materials.
“Art textile and fiber sculpture have surged in popularity in the last decade,” explains Gregory Clark president of Artifact Design Group and nationally recognized furniture and industrial designer. “This highly evocative art form offers a unique complement to the sophisticated contemporary furniture featured by Artifact Design Group,” he adds. “We are delighted to partner with browngrotta arts, which has an international reputation, based on more than 20 years promoting the work of textile artists from Europe, Asia, Israel, Australia, North and South America and the UK.”
The 10th Wave III: In Person, will open on October, 2009. A major internet exhibit, The 10th Wave III: Online, will follow at http://www.browngrotta.com/ on October 12th, Work from both exhibitions will be documented in a full-color catalog, The 10th Wave III: In Print, that will be available for sale at Artifact Design Group and browngrotta.com.
Also on exhibit at Artifact Design Group in October and November will be pieces from the Formal Contemporary© series, limited edition, signature pieces designed by Clark. “We are excited about the opportunity to curate an exhibit of this importance at Artifact Design Group, “ says Tom Grotta, president of browngrotta arts. “Art furniture and art textiles have each come into their own in the last few years. Accomplished artists in these mediums combine a craftsmanship and a reverence for materials in inventive ways eroding what Roberta Smith of the New York Times has called ‘the increasingly irrelevant divides between art and craft, old and new, commercial and fine.” The opening of The 10th Wave III: In Person will take place from 3:30pm – 7:30pm on October 9, 2009 at Artifact Design Group is located at 66 Danbury Road (Rt. 7) in Wilton, Connecticut.
