Birmingham Art Fair Brings Juried Art Show to The Summit

A juried fine art show is coming to Birmingham as the community receives one of the best art festivals ever to come to the area. The Birmingham Art Fair at The Summit debuts Mother’s Day weekend May 9 – 10, 2009. Admission is free and open to the public.

This two-day event brings together an eclectic mix of over 150 of the nation’s most talented artists from around the country and locally, who will collectively display over $15 million in artwork. The artists were juried by an independent panel of expert judges, and hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity. All of their artwork is original and handmade in America.

“We are a national touring art fair based in South Florida, but we found that some of our best customers come from the Birmingham region as it is an area that actively supports the arts,” says show promoter Howard Alan. “Birmingham deserves a top-rate art fair and we’re looking forward to bringing a local contingency of artists, as well as a troupe of artists from around the country that have never exhibited in the greater Birmingham area before.”

“We are very excited to be able to host a show of this caliber at The Summit,” says Assistant Property Manager Emily Peers. “Our shoppers and this community support the arts, and we are happy to be bringing both national and local artists together for this event. Also the timing of the event is wonderful because it provides a great, free activity that families can enjoy together during the Mother’s Day weekend.”

The artists will line The Summit with their professional display booths, transforming the area into a first-class outdoor art gallery. The public can meet and talk with the artists personally, asking questions about their art and inspirations. The artistic media represented include paintings, sculptures, photos, glass, wood, jewelry, collage, and ceramics.

The Birmingham Art Fair at The Summit makes the arts accessible to a broad audience. Prices range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $20,000 metal sculptures. The event appeals to family and friends as a free and fun weekend activity, as well as serious art buyers looking to add to their collections.
