A “Celebration of Life ” of internationally acclaimed Jet Art expressionist artist Prince Jurgen von Anhalt will be held Feb. 28 at Atlantic Aviation at the Palm Springs International Airport with a demonstration of his thrilling and unique art form by the late artist’s wife Tarinan von Anhalt.
Jurgen von Anhalt of Palm Springs, hailed by art critics worldwide for his creation of his original and distinctive art form using the hurricane-force winds of a jet engine to paint on specially constructed canvasses, died May 22 from a heart attack in Palm Springs. He was 65.
Only a few artists in the history of art have ever created an original art form. Jurgen von Anhalt, attracted worldwide attention for being the first and only person in the world to create Jet Art. Rather than merely painting with a brush, dripping paint or splashing a canvas, he painted with a 20th Century paint brush – the jet airplane.
The 1 p.m. “Celebration of Life” art demonstration by his wife with the help of a Cessna Citation II jet from Air Fred, LLC, full service aircraft charter company, is free to the public. For more information, please call (310) 562-4636 or visit online at www.jetartproductions.com
“I will pay tribute to my husband, who mentored me for two years. I am following in his footsteps to continue this art form that he created in 1981,” said Tarinan von Anhalt. “I will be placing paint directly into a jet stream with a force several times greater than hurricane winds onto large reinforced canvasses, about 50 feet from the engine.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Jurgen von Anhalt Art Foundation to assist budding new artists with art supplies and the Gold-Kitz Charity of Austria, which benefits children suffering from cystic fibrosis and gives support for their families.
Jurgen von Anhalt’s Art will be on display at Atlantic Aviation Feb. 28 and starting March 1 at the Michael H. Lord Gallery at 1090 North Palm Canyon Drive in Palm Springs.
