Immersed within a world of submerged wonders, Italian photographer Michele Davino discovers swirling eddies of life. As he captures gardens of intense color and variety teeming with fish and coral, occasionally including a female model diving through tranquil seas, Davino creates dynamic aquatic visions.
Drawing from life, the artist plans his images abstractly at the surface before descending below to capture his scenes using advanced macro-zoom techniques. The vibrant energies of nature become revealed through these exquisite photographs in explosively vivid detail. The photos emerge with an intuitive spontaneity and arresting immediacy that belie the intensive preparation and processes which go into each photo shoot. Davino’s images are developed in limited edition, large scale photographic prints on fine art or metallic paper with no further changes.
Born in northeast Italy, in recent years Michele Davino has built a competitive presence in the world of underwater photography, winning more than 50 international awards and world champion titles. His works have been published in two books of underwater images and technical photography procedures as well as by the Encyclopedia Britannica and other distinguished journals.
