440 Gallery announces the opening of its 2016 Call for Entries for the 12th annual Small Works Show. This national juried exhibition celebrates the innovation of artists who create work on a small scale, in a broad range of media and styles. The exhibition will be on display in the 440 Gallery Park Slope, Brooklyn space from Thursday, December 1, 2016 through Saturday, December 24, 2016.
Juror: JoAnne McFarland is the former Exhibitions Director of A.I.R. Gallery, the first artist-run gallery devoted to women artists in the United States. McFarland is a practicing artist and poet, with works in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress and Columbus Museum of Art. The author of eight poetry collections, her latest is Loose Horse in the Valley.
Eligibility: Open to U.S. resident artists at least 18 years old. Work must be no more than 12″ in any direction including the framing or mounting, or video monitors. This will be strictly enforced. There is no theme, but we welcome all media including oils, acrylics, watercolors, pastels, drawings, sculpture in any medium, collage, printmaking, photography and digital media. All work must be suitably framed, wired and ready for hanging. Works on paper must be framed under plexiglass or glass. Maximum weight of sculpture: 30 pounds. Wall mounted monitors must be provided for videos.
OCT 21 SUBMISSION DEADLINE for all properly formatted materials.
NOV 6: Notification of acceptance.
NOV 19 Saturday 11-7: Drop off of accepted work.
NOV 20, Sunday 11-4 PM: Drop off of accepted work.
NOV 18 – 22: Shipped work arrives
DEC 1, Thursday: Opening Reception, 6-9pm
DEC 24: Show closes
DEC 29, Thursday: Pick up of unsold work, 4-7pm
DEC 30, Friday: Pick up of unsold work, 4-7pm
DEC 31, Saturday: Pick up of unsold work, 11-4pm
