European Drawings Exhibition at the Portland Museum of Art

Featuring approximately 30 drawings from the Museum’s European collection, this exhibition, on view March 26, 2011 – May 22, 2011, will highlight masterworks by the finest draughtsmen of the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.

From portraits and figure studies to landscapes and architectural studies, the exhibition will showcase work by artists such as Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Honoré Daumier, George Grosz, Edward Lear, and Samuel Prout. This exhibition is part of Where to Draw the Line: The Maine Drawing Project, a statewide collaboration of 20 arts organizations that will present exhibitions dedicated to the medium of drawing in 2011.

The Portland Museum of Art is located at Seven Congress Square in downtown Portland. The Museum is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday. Memorial Day through Columbus Day, the Museum is open on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Museum admission is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and students with I.D., $4 for youth ages 6 to 17, and children under 6 are free.
