National Art Festival Returns to Downtown Aspen

Hundreds of artists will converge on downtown Aspen for the 7th Annual Downtown Aspen Art Festival on July 18 – 19, 2009, as Wagner Park is transformed into a first-class outdoor art gallery. Admission is free and open to the public.

The 7th Annual Downtown Aspen Art Festival, produced by Howard Alan Events, is a juried art event, which brings together an eclectic mix of the nation’s most talented local and national artists, who will collectively display more than $15 million in artwork. The artists were juried by an independent panel of expert judges, and hand-selected from hundreds of applicants based on quality and diversity. All of the artwork is original and handmade in America.

Howard Alan Events stipulates that all artists are required to be on-site for the entire duration of the show. The public can meet and talk with the artists personally, asking questions about their art and inspirations. The artistic media represented include paintings, sculptures, photos, glass, wood, jewelry, collage, and ceramics.

The Downtown Aspen Art Festival attracts thousands of tourists and visitors from around the area and beyond, making the arts accessible to a broad audience. Wagner Park, nearly 2 city blocks in the heart of downtown Aspen, provides the area with an outdoor arena for a variety of activities and is the perfect setting for the art festival. The event appeals to family and friends as a free and fun weekend activity, as well as serious art buyers looking to add to their collections. Prices range from $25 hand-designed earrings to $50,000 metal sculptures. Howard Alan comments, “In spite of today’s economy people are still investing in art because art heals, art soothes; this is art that is handmade in America.”
