Montgomery Mall and Lansdale Center for the Performing Arts Team Up to Offer a “Rhythm and Arts Summer Concert Series”

The Montgomery Mall and the Lansdale Center for the Performing Arts have teamed up to offer a “Rhythm and Arts Summer Concert Series.” Beginning on June 26, 2009, performers from the Center will come to the mall weekly and feature their talents to the local community.

On Friday, June 26 at 7pm, hip hop dance group, Illstyle and Peace Project, will show off their dance moves fusing the spirit of hip-hop with various other styles of dance like Modern Jazz, Tap, Ballet, African, Breakin, Poppin, Lockin, DJing and Beatboxing. The dance crew, originating from a dance-theater company in Philadelphia, recently traveled to Florida to audition for the MTV show “America’s Best Dance Crew.” Also performing at the mall on June 26 is Atticus and Ike, an Indie Rock group from Abington, Pa.

According to Marja Kaisla, Executive Director of the Lansdale Center for the Performing Arts, “The Center is thrilled to have gifted artists like Illstyle and Peace perform in the North Penn region. These dancers have a very high level of energy, excitement and expertise to share with their audiences and their enthusiasm for dance has made many people interested in a variety of the dance classes offered at the Center.”

Other acts to be featured at the mall in July include:
– The Lewis Brothers Bluegrass Band on Friday, July 3 at 7pm
– The John Hoey Big Band Orchestra, on Friday, July 10 at 7pm
– The Philadelphia German Brass Band on Friday, July 17 at 7pm
– The Barynya Russian Ensemble, on Friday, July 24 at 7pm
– The West Philadelphia Orchestra, on Friday, July 31 at 7pm
