Michael H. Lord Gallery announces new Palm Springs location

Published April 10th, 2009

Located in an architecturally- significant historic building built in 1929 as the garage for the swank El Mirador Hotel, the Michael H. Lord Gallery has now opened its new Palm Springs location at 1090 N. Palm Canyon Drive at Tachevah Drive. In the 1980’s, the building was renovated as the Elaine Horwitch Gallery, and now it has again been remodeled as a 6,000 square foot art gallery.

With an emphasis on American and European contemporary art, the gallery exhibits Nicholas Africano, Alexander Calder, Marc Chagall, Carlo D’Alessio, Jan Groover, Jasper Johns, Roy Lichtenstein, Robert Mapplethorpe, Joan Miro, Robert Rauschenberg, Roger Selden, Frank Stella and Andy Warhol. The original Michael H. Lord Gallery in Milwaukee presented over 300 landmark shows. Business Hours are Monday through Saturday, 10-6; Sunday, 12-5.

Gallery owner Michael Lord played a leading role in the revitalization of downtown Milwaukee through his involvement in community art projects which ultimately drew the support of corporate sponsorship to further aid the arts. Now a resident of the desert, he is actively organizing art initiatives including an alliance with other members in the Palm Springs Art Dealers Association.
