Cooperation Between artnet AG and the Federal Association of German Galleries and Editions (BVDG)

artnet AG and the Federal Association of German Galleries and Editions (BVDG) are pleased to announce their collaboration.

As an information service provider for the international art trade, artnet offers the most extensive survey of the worldwide art market and enables art experts and enthusiasts to find and evaluate art quickly and easily. The BVDG represents the legal, commercial and cultural interests of German gallery owners and art publishers in public and on a political scale. It offers an array of services to its members, providing them with the information necessary to gain a broad overview of German art galleries and their work.

Offering several comprehensive databases, precise information about artists and their oeuvres, and up-to-date analyses of art market trends, artnet is a vital tool within the professional art market. More and more market participants are conducting online research before they close a deal. The ability to obtain relevant information online allows one to more securely and reliably navigate the art market. Galleries benefit from the exposure that an online platform provides, as they are able to inform an international audience of their artists and programs. Young galleries are given the opportunity to present their program to an optimal market environment.

Klaus Gerrit Friese, CEO of BVDG, is pleased about the cooperation with artnet: “The collaboration enables the BVDG to offer a special package of artnet’s services to its members. The two partners both have years of valuable experience within the art market and its structures, and both aim to optimise the market participants’ status and presence.” Future improvements to the German fine art market are planned, as well.

Thomas Eller, former Executive Manager of artnet AG and newly appointed CEO and AD of Berlin’s soon-to-be-opened temporary art gallery, is also very pleased about this cooperation. He was a leading force behind this project, and says of the collaboration, “Galleries are one artnet’s most important partners in so far as they represent the huge spectrum of the art market. They are laboratories in which future art is created. We are pleased to support such an endeavour.”
