Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel Celebrates Pittsburgh’s 250th with Art Exhibit

Published 19 October 2008

In honor of Pittsburgh’s 250th anniversary, the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel will present an exhibit of paintings featuring the city’s Steel Valley.

“The Mill,” an exhibit by renowned local artist Adam Maeroff, will be downtown on display at the hotel at 107 Sixth Street, from Thursday, October 2, to Friday, October 31, 2008. It features paintings with an emphasis on wildlife in one of the Pittsburgh region’s most historically significant communities.

“We’re pleased to present the work of this gifted local artist in celebration of Pittsburgh’s 250th,” says Melanie Koscelnak, Director of Sales and Marketing at the hotel. “The Renaissance Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania hotel is the perfect place to display it – the hotel itself is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Fulton Building, where the hotel is located, has been a cultural landmark in Pittsburgh since it was built in 1906 by industrialist Henry Phipps.”

The city’s only AAA Four Diamond hotel, Renaissance Pittsburgh was named the city’s top luxury hotel for 2008 by TripAdvisor.com. This opulent grand dame is central to The Cultural District and five theaters, galleries, museums, nightlife and sports venues for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pirates and Steelers.

The exhibit, located on the hotel’s second-floor mezzanine, is free and open to the public, making it an ideal time to reserve one of Renaissance Pittsburgh’s deluxe hotel packages. There is a Four Diamond Package Pittsburgh getaway package to please everyone, whether you prefer pampering at a rejuvenating spa and trendy shopping, bone-chilling thrills with world-famous dinosaurs, or a wild time at a 110-year-old zoological park.
