Gustav Klimt reproductions at charity auction for needy children

Only the really wealthy can afford Gustav Klimt originals which cost millions of dollars.

So a lacquer reproduction priced at about S$400 can be considered a bargain.

And these bargains can be found at a charity auction at The Arts House.

Called ‘Art from the Heart’, the charity auction and sale will see proceeds go to underprivileged children in Singapore.

This initiative is the brain-child of Singaporean Paul Fong, who set up Christie Collection as a social enterprise to export lacquer paintings produced by a Vietnamese welfare organisation.

The charitable organisation is the Thien An Centre which houses and trains street-children and orphans as artists.

Bidding closes on Sunday (December 23) at 7pm and winners will be announced at 7.30pm.

This is the first of three charity auctions by Christie Collection.

The second exhibition and auction will be held on February 2 and 3 respectively, while the third exhibition and auction will be held on March 15 and 16 respectively.
