International Fine Art and Antique Faris Abu Dhabi and Dubai standards committee to ensure top quality exhibits

Published October 26th, 2007

To be held at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre from 21 - 24 November 2007 and at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre from 12 - 15 December, the fair is the first of its kind in the UAE as it is the first time that all the exhibits will undergo a comprehensive vetting procedure by an exclusively appointed Standards Committee to ensure only the highest quality genuine pieces are exhibited.

The role of the Standards Committee is to ensure that all items offered for sale are of a standard that truly reflects the international standing of the Fairs so that visitors can buy with confidence. The Committee will examine stock for sale for criteria such as correct date of manufacture, genuineness, alterations which change the original character.

The Standards Committee is chaired by Peter Wain from the United Kingdom. Peter is Executive Chairman of the Antiques for Everyone Fairs at the National Exhibition Centre, UK. For many years he was Chairman of the Oriental Committee for the Olympia, London, Fine Art and Antique Fairs, and is currently consultant to two Fine Art Auctions in China. The Committee has been selected from well-known international experts who are authorities in their own field and who have either been invited externally or internally by the exhibitors themselves.

Essential to every major international fair, the Standards Committee will set the international standards that will benefit everyone, but especially the buyer looking to confidently purchase a genuine piece from the thousands of pieces on offer.

The Abu Dhabi International Fine Art and Antiques Fair and The Dubai International Fine Art and Antiques Fair will offer around 20,000 individual fine art and antiques exhibits valued at more than $100m at each show. Furniture, clocks, jewellery, sculpture, ceramics, glass, bronzes, photography and tapestries to Old Masters, contemporary art and ancient Islamic art will be on display and for sale.
